Shell Assembly
The overlapping layers of chicken wire, which produced the membrane, were tied together with hog-rings, used in the upholstery industry. The procedure compressed the layers and stabilized the membrane. After the membrane was lined with metal lath, the pleated wire units placed on the exterior membrane surface, were also fastened to it with hog-rings.
